Korbinian Krol
Conductor
Stylistic versatility and a passion for a wide-ranging musical repertoire characterize the young conductor Korbinian Krol. A recipient of the Danish Conductors' Association's Talent Award, he was accepted into the Danish elite conducting program, Dirigentløftet, in 2025, as well as the German Music Council's Conducting Forum in 2026.
As part of his studies at the Royal Danish Academy of Music, he regularly conducts concerts with professional across Scandinavia, including the Copenhagen Philharmonic, the Danish Philharmonic Orchestra, the Aalborg Symphony Orchestra and the Helsingborg Symphony Orchestra.
In the upcoming season, he will make his debut with the Aarhus Symphony Orchestra and Athelas Sinfonietta Copenhagen. As an assistant conductor with the Norddeutsche Orchesterakademie, he will oversee performances of Mahler's Symphony No. 2 at the Musikverein in Vienna, the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg and the Herkulessaal in Munich.
He has a close working relationship with conductor Marie Jacquot, whom he has assisted her in concerts with the WDR Symphony Orchestra and the Royal Danish Orchestra.
He made his operatic debut at the age of 25, conducting sections of a performance of Bizet's Carmen as part of a masterclass at Plzeň Theatre. One of his most memorable experiences was his two-week collaboration with Riccardo Muti at the Italian Opera Academy in 2025, where he conducted Mozart's Don Giovanni. Most recently, he served as assistant to Iván López Reynoso for Verdi's Nabucco at the 2026 Savonlinna Opera Festival.
He has also drawn significant inspiration from masterclasses with Vasily Petrenko, Dima Slobodeniouk, Jorma Panula, Johannes Schlaefli and Nicolas Pasquet, conducting the likes of the Göttingen Symphony Orchestra and the Kyiv Symphony Orchestra. At the invitation of Jukka-Pekka Saraste, he conducted at the Fiskars Summer Festival in Finland in 2026. That same year, he was also a Carlos Miguel Prieto Conducting Fellow at the OAcademy Music Conservatory.
He initially studied church music, choral conducting and voice in Freiburg, Helsinki and Zurich. He received his conducting training at the Norwegian Academy of Music in Oslo and is currently completing his studies with Giordano Bellincampi and Michael Schønwandt in Copenhagen. Prior to dedicating himself to conducting, Korbinian sang the role of the Evangelist in Bach's oratorios and performed with various professional chamber choirs in Germany.
His career has been supported by scholarships from Cusanuswerk and the Richard Wagner Association Freiburg.
